6 New Summer Learning Opportunities This July!

6 New Summer Learning Opportunities This July!

Summer is a time for educators to relax and recharge. I also find that it is a great opportunity to reflect on the school year, connect with other educators and explore new ideas for the upcoming year. This summer, I have the fortunate opportunity of leading five different 1-week experiences (3 live 1-hour sessions) with educators from around the world through the EdTechTeacher summer workshop series.

Teaching History and Social Studies with Technology (1 Week Summer Course Starting July 13th)

Teaching History and Social Studies with Technology (1 Week Summer Course Starting July 13th)

As part of the EdTechTeacher Summer Virtual Workshop Series, I will be hosting a 1 week “Teaching History and Social Studies with Technology” course. During this course, we will explore practical, dynamic, and creative ways to use technology to provide students with unique opportunities to demonstrate their understanding. The course offers innovative ideas and thoughtful approaches for incorporating G Suite for Education, web tools, apps, video, audio, images, maps, and emerging technologies applicable to World History, United States History, and Civics at the middle school, high school and college level. This course emphasizes active learning whereby students demonstrate understanding through interactive presentations, digital stories, screencasts, collaborative documents, virtual field trips, interactive maps, timelines, and more.

Creating Effective Hybrid & Blended Learning Environments (2-Week Summer Course)

Creating Effective Hybrid & Blended Learning Environments (2-Week Summer Course)

This Spring, educators and students across the world were thrust into distance learning scenarios within a matter of days. Now that we have some experience to reflect back on, let’s consider what practices worked best, which challenges persist, and how we can design more powerful and impactful learning experiences in the future. Given the current projections, educators must now prepare for several scenarios that will include a mix of on-site, distance and blended (or hybrid) learning environments.
